In the last decade, there has been an explosion in digital tools to help creators create storefronts, market to their audience, and deliver product. Platforms like Shopify, Stripe, and Flexport have become household names in the space. Despite this rapid development, the fundamental process of sourcing product has remained stuck in the past.

Bringing amazing ideas to market is still extremely difficult for new brands: searching for suppliers, vetting for quality, choosing products, negotiating price, and handling logistics. The ability to source and produce great product is often the barrier between a visionary creator and a game-changing brand.

Badaboom is looking for a Head of Product for Headwear to join our team as a contractor. This is a unique and highly specialized role that will define the offering for headwear in the Badaboom platform.

You will work closely with our Portfolio and Supplier Operations team to determine what types of headwear we will be offering, what data we must capture, what suppliers to recruit, and to evaluate samples of products to include in our launch portfolio and ongoing portfolio updates.

We have already established playbooks for facilitating the processes above in eyewear, and you will help us apply these playbooks to the headwear offering.


  • Define the composition of the headwear offering in Badaboom. This includes breaking out the offering into categories, price points, styles, personas, and more.
  • Determine what data needs to be captured for each product and displayed to the customer. This includes shape, measurements, materials, branding options, etc.
  • Establish system of selecting color combinations based on the product structure or features.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Operations team to identify suppliers to recruit and facilitate conversations.
  • Collect and evaluate samples of products to determine if they should be added in our launch portfolio.
  • Establish the processes to continuously receive and evaluate new samples from suppliers on a repeated monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Negotiate price, MOQs, and volume discounts with suppliers for products in portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio and Technology team to determine how products are qualitatively defined and how our algorithm will match products to brand personas.


  • 5+ years professional experience in sourcing headwear.
  • Expert knowledge of the various types, materials, structures, colors, etc. that are available for headwear.
  • Professional experience with selecting, vetting and communicating with suppliers overseas.
  • Knowledge of or existing relationships with suppliers of headwear.
  • Ongoing knowledge of latest trends and fashion in the headwear industry.
  • Excellent proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment.
  • Self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organizational skills.
  • An inclination towards communication, inclusion, and transparency.

Hiring Process

  • Next, candidates will schedule another 30-minute screening call with a member of the Badaboom Supplier Operations team.
  • Next, candidates will be invited to schedule a 60-minute interview with the CEO.
  • Successful candidates will subsequently be made an offer.
